Comments: I was stationed at a radar installation on the.west coast of South Korea, They sprayed the perimeter fence with herbicides to maintain our line of site around the fence line . I have had trouble breathing and have developed diabetes . Does any one know what kind of chemicals were used ? Could Agent Orange had been carried on the winds of loft , our compound was just across the Yellow sea from the DMZ. There had to be chemicals all over Korea,not just the DMZ. They used something to kill all the bugs and foliage .

Read it and weep VA, your government has spoken. If you toured the DMZ, you will feel the ill affects of Agent Orange.

Comments: After reading through all the posts by guys that were Air Force someone should understand that Agent Orange, Blue and others were used on USAF bases and radar sites from the DMZ south. I have gotten reports that it was STORED AND USED at Kunsan. It was later picked up by unidentified civilians in either a C-123 or C-130 and taken to places unknown in late 68 or early 69. Because the USAF didn't have the range facilities they sent the Air Police to the DMZ for crewed weapons training. The first day at the ranges we were told that the actual no mans land was just the other side of the hills we drove past after we crossed the river. Of course this part of the training was left out of the TDY orders and our training records. If anyone remembers USAF personnel on their base in the transient quarters and mess hall please contact me so I can get at least one or more Buddy Letters for my claim. The base was north of the Evac hospital and about 2 klicks south of the river, it may have been near the Icicle and Bullsye #2 ranges. Thanks

Comments: I was awarded 20% diabetes type 2/ 20% , Ischemic Heart disease 60%, Bilateral Peripheral Vascular Disease right 60% left 60% on agent orange presumption or secondary to diabetes. Served on DMZ 1969/70 . I was denied first time appealed. Claim filed in 2009 , awarded Sept of 2011. Now total 100%. All i can say is hang in there fight the fight. Get a good service rep.

What I thought was a solid case, buddy statements, spouse statements my claim, medical evidence to support my claim all denied. I cannot imagine what the rest of you Bro's are going through. I had everything they requested , many more supporting documents, denied due to medical records from nine teen 69. Many sick calls, two major surgeries 43rd Surgical MASH, none there. Where did they go? I will not go away, I will appeal, appeal,and appeal, again until I die. Boots on the ground NAM approved, DMZ vets, good luck.

Comments: I am trying to find where I can get color photos of all four Hawk Missile tac sites for 2/71 ADA. I am trying to put a claim together for possible exposure to AO. I was stationed at DSD 2/71 (Camp Tobongsan) from 1978-1980. We responded to all 4 tac sites as we were on call for maintenance and repair of Diesel Generators and Air Conditioners. I suffer from severe coronary artery disease ( I have had two different open heart surgeries for a total of 5 by-pass grafts and six stents placed),chronic ischemia, insulin dependent type 2 diabetes,a rash that won't go away,and hearing loss in both ears. Equality with respect to Veteran dioxin exposure presumption for all Veterans. Many are seniors, some are offspring and spouses, and too many have already died or will die younger than they should! Finish the wars we have at home with the DVA! The DVA needs to live up to its published mission statement.

Dioxins are from Agent Orange / Rainbow - Tactical Herbicides, some PCB's and insecticides. They were used to defoliate / defend perimeter fence lines around bases and TAC sites, prevent fires, hydraulic fluids, electrical equipment, cleaning fluids and to control insects / pests. Currently many vets are not getting these benefits as many exposed units are not listed for many locations, many countries; poor, destroyed, classified and lost records (per DOD). Also found in soil and well water at many U.S. bases. Dioxin is one cause of many medical conditions. The DVA acts like the DOD said all other units not exposed. In many locations and time frames the DVA assumes that units were not exposed or that the vet served there, when the DOD only fails to find the data that confirms exposure or that service occurred, a low priority for the DOD and due poor, lost, classified and missing decades old records.

I am hoping that someone in DC realizes that if this is done they would not have to admit to any specific US or other location being contaminated and also not release any classified data, while still enabling vets their decades overdue and just benefits. They should only then need to prove they are a vet, spouse or offspring and have a recognized medical condition(s) during the decades contamination occurred. Remember that most vets were at several locations between Basic, AIT to discharge time. Overseas duty also meant going through a couple locations and being on some form of military travel that may have been contaminated somewhere.

I was in D 2/71st 38th ADA HAWK 1971 on defoliated Tac2 Site 34 (about 11 mi from DMZ)(I saw being sprayed) and was denied, DVA used my Camp Red Cloud APO as being too far at 20 mi. for NEAR the DMZ. In two other appeals the DOD and VA conceded Camp Red Cloud NEAR the DMZ and area was sprayed?

12-2012. Severe foo including Leptomeningeal. Received Agent Orange
Review that non Hodgkins is a presumed illness from agent orange exposure. he
was a Chemical Officer in US Army in Korea June 1969- July 1970. It was a top
secret job so I don't know details but I know he planned and participated in
demonstrations . I have filed a claim and they are asking me details about his
service. I do not know and he is not here to give the details. Can anyone give ,me
help with this . He suffered a very painful illness and death. I am concerned they
will deny this claim as they are asking me questions that I cannot answer and I
think they already know the answer that he was exposed in his daily job close to
or on the DMZ

Comments: I have been turned down consistently from 2008 to today. I had
an advocate, but I do not understand a lot and I'm not getting
a lot of help. My husband passed 6 years ago today from prostate
cancer. He was in the Army from 1966 - 1973. Today he was
denied because The veteran served as a Machinist during the
period February 8, 1969 - March 7, 1970 as part of the 43rd
Detachment Maintenance Company. The Veteran's unit is not on the
list of units recognized by the Service Department as having
exposure to herbicides and you service in Korea is not within the
presumptive period, .....

I do not even know what the 43rd Detachment Maintenance Company
was and where they were located specifically. Does the service
have specific records as to whether he stayed only at that
location and never went anywhere else in the area to fix
something? Why do they say he was not within the presumptive
period (1968 - 1971)when his records show he was there 1969 - 1970?

I would really appreciate if anyone could explain just those
couple of things for me. I had a stroke in February and I'm not
as good as I used to be on finding information.

exposure by the US government and Department of Veterans Affairs.

NOTE: Veterans, offspring must also still prove they have a
recognized condition, which may be caused by Agent Orange /
tactical herbicides / Dioxin exposure,
during or after service to get DVA benefits.

along the DMZ starting in April of 1967 being involved in several
assignments including : erecting of 2 Guard Towers, the Erecting
of barrier fencing to run along the south line, clearing of
Mine's along the DMZ. i recall one tower we helped raise was
known a OP DORT or DART? While serving North of the Imjin River
and on the South Tape we were ambushed on 2 different days.we had
grenades hurled in on us followed by small automatic weapons
fire.1 member of my Platoon ( 1st Platoon ) lost his foot after
stepping on a Mine. I can't understand WHY the ( 2nd ENG ( COMBAT
) BN 2nd Inf Div IS NOT LISTED among all the units ( DOD ) and ( VA
) have listed as units qualified for Agent Orange ??? i left
Korea Feb 18, 1968 , missing their MAGIC DATE by 6-7 weeks.
I have Type II Diabetes,Prostate Cancer,Colorectal Cancer and
because i'm outside the Magic Date get stonewalled. ALL VET'S
SHOULD GET EQUAL TREATMENT !!

Comments: Hello my fellow veterans. I am writing this letter that it may

help any of you that where stationed at Camp Carroll or anywhere

in Korea for that matter.

A year ago I found this website and made an entry detailing the
health problems I was having. It was last June. At that time I
was having health problems such as blisters on my feet and hands
and sores that came up on my feet and legs. No doctor I visited
could tell me what it was. The conditions would come and go. A
month ago I was told by the VA doctors that I have colon rectal
cancer after having a colonoscopy. During a CT scan I had
yesterday at the VA hospital in Columbia, SC, they also noticed
spots on my lungs. I am waiting to have a biopsy to see if the 3
spots are cancer. If so the doctor told me that it will be
considered stage 4 cancer. This is the question I had for the
surgeons; There is no history of cancer in my family, I have
never smoke cigarettes. How can I have this cancer along with
all the other health problems I've been experiencing for the
last couple of years? Is the answer to my question to the VA the
fact that I spent a year in Korea at Camp Carroll from June of
1981 until June of 1982 as a 63B with the 46th Transportation
Company. We hauled supplies throughout the country. From Pusan
to the JSA. It is a known fact that Camp Carroll is a depot for
the military in Korea but it is also a proven fact that it is
also a waste dump for the military in Korea and has been for
over 50 years. Agent Orange was stored there years ago and was
also buried there along with 100's of other chemical and toxins.
When I ask the Lead surgeon that the answer from him was Their
could be something to that and we will make a note in you
medical file. I told him that I had been warned against bringing
up the AO connection and that if I did the VA would lose my
records and the next time I came for medical treatment, they
wouldn't have any record of me being in Korea. He told me that's
not the way they do things there. So now I wait for a biopsy to
be done on my lungs and if the cancer I have is Stage 4 and if I
will live to see my 3 year old grand daughter grow up.

My advice to anyone of you that read this or anyone that knows

someone that was stationed at Camp Carroll at anytime in the

last 40 years to have yourself checked out if you can. Don't

wait until that place comes back to haunt you 31 years later

like it may have me.

for all Veterans

Hi,

Currently only veterans of the Vietnam Conflict are afforded
this in a limited presumption, Boots on Ground legislation, if
they were in the Republic of Vietnam (Served in the Republic of
Vietnam between 1/9/62 and 5/7/75) per the Department of
Veterans Affairs. In fact any current end date for any location
would be invalid as Dioxins stay active for much longer than
the time since the 1962 admitted RVN Agent Orange / Dioxin
start date, current end date is the end date for RVN service,
per the DVA. I was in an exposed unit, one of many and in many
countries, not recognized by the DVA.

That's why I created a petition to The United States House of
Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack
Obama.

We the undersigned petition the US Senate, US Congress and the
President of the United States to enact legislation that makes
ALL veterans have equal presumption of exposure to Dioxins
while in the service of the United States at any location or
unit. We feel that ALL veterans MUST be treated equally with
respect to Dioxin exposure by the US government and Department
of Veterans Affairs.

NOTE: Veterans must also still prove they have a recognized
condition, that maybe caused by Dioxin exposure, during or
after service to get DVA benefits.

Any one 18 can sign.
If effected vet make sure you add your statement in comment
area too!

Prostate Cancer
Cancer of the prostate; one of the most common cancers among men
Respiratory Cancers (includes lung cancer)
Cancers of the lung, larynx, trachea, and bronchus
Soft Tissue Sarcomas (other than osteosarcoma,
chondrosarcoma, Kaposis sarcoma, or mesothelioma)
A group of different types of cancers in body tissues such as
muscle, fat, blood and lymph vessels, and connective tissues

Children with Birth Defects: VA presumes certain birth defects in
children of Vietnam and Korea Veterans associated with Veterans'
qualifying military service.

Veterans with Lou Gehrig's Disease: VA presumes Lou Gehrig's
Disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS) diagnosed in all
Veterans who had 90 days or more continuous active military
service is related to their service, although ALS is not related
to Agent Orange exposure.

Comments: I served on the DMZ from June 1968 to to Jan 1969 We were in a
Bunker facing North. On the left front there were six North
Korean Guns. They were in a cave they would roll them out as to
fire at 0455 every day I was on duty for 4 weeks and 3 off part
of our duties in the summer was to spay Agent Orange to keep the
folage down. My unit was B Btry 4th Bn 76th Arty attached to as
my memory is not god i think it was, 38th inf 2nd ID Blue lancer
Valley they were in fighting postions. We had contact with the
Gook North Koreans at times. I recall we would have rashes and
Blisters on our bodies. When we not around A.O. they would go
away till we had contact again. since that time i have had weak
legs headaches and rashes. in 2005 I started to get major
swelling in my neck. It was Cancer, Squamous cell carcinoma
before that time I had had a low white blood count. they
perfooed surgery at the VA Hosp in Salt and the Huntsman
instatute on my neck throat 30 days radiation I am positive this
was from A.O.

I have 76% hearing loss in both ears,and ringing and other noises in my ears all the time,have neurological problems,including violent jerking of my body and arms,with some studering and I STAGGER LIKE A Drunk,have some high blood
pressure,one foot of my Colon removed,poor concentration and memory(that's why while writing this.

I have to stop and keep looking up how to spell simple words)and have had a stroke!

Is there any other blv 2nd Bn 38th inf 2nd ID people out there who are having any of these or other A. O. RELATED HEALTH PROBLEMS? If so let me know.

I AM about to start filing a VA health claim,and any supporting statements from any of you guys
that can be backed up with medical records,coming from another person who was at blv CO. C of our unit,while I was there in 1966 and or in 1967 would sure be of help to me or to any of our
buddies that were there who are thinking of filing a claim,we could all be of help to one another!if any of you are having any of
these problems and are considering filing a claim,lets get in

Although I was not stationed at the DMZ looking for
someone who can say that the 508th had to travel to
DMZ to supply the depots there..Cannot get the Gov,
to except that you did not have to be stationed at

also remember koreans with tanks on thier backs
spraying around the fences of our compound
